Abraham J. Karp (1921–2003)

Catalogue of a traveling exhibition of about 225 items from the Library of Congress holdings. Most of the book, however, is a bibliographic-historical essay on the history of the Jews and Judaism, using scrolls, Hebrew incunabula, early Talmud printings by the Soncinos and others, artworks, prayerbooks, secular works by Jewish authors, letters by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson on religious freedom and the separation of church and state, musical scores, etc.

The arrival of Jews in America from colonial times, development of American Jewish Rabbinate, religious movements among Jews, work, community, involvement in political movements and events, life after the Holocaust, cultural pluralism and assimilation.
