I mostly liked this book. I was well into 40% when I realized I haven't made one break while reading, and I love when that happens. I liked the writing, and I mostly liked the characters.
It was obvious Heath was so emotionally abused he couldn't see himself as anything other than unworthy, unlovable, stupid, weak. And still I struggled not to see him as TSTL sometimes, especially with that stunt he pulled at the end. Derik was okay but kind of bland.
The characters I loved best and that made the greatest impression on me were Chloe and Bart. I would love to see more of them!… (mehr)

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

David is the Chief of Medicine at his hospital, and he has an immediate attraction to a new ER nurse. Ian is crabby, withdrawn, and rude to his co-workers, but for some reason, David is completely enthralled with Ian and can't get him out of his head. The two guys have very different backgrounds: David grew up not having to want for anything, Ian grew up way too fast and taking care of himself and his sister when they were young. Ian's past haunts him, and he struggles with the knowledge that power corrupts and can get you killed if you cross it. David is naive in general, and gets a big wake up call regarding privilege and power.

I really enjoyed this story. There was mystery, drama, sweetness, and love. Great combinations for a book. This was really well written, and I was intrigued right from the beginning. I liked the secondary characters (Caroline, Albert, and the siblings). I am really interested in learning more about Sawyer, and hope that he can get his story told in the future.… (mehr)
