Rebecca Kraatz

One day, author Rebecca Kraatz bought a photo album from the 1940s at a flea market in Victoria, British Columbia. She then imagined the story behind each photograph contained in the album, and the relationships that may have existed between the unknown persons they portrayed. The result is a beautiful, soulful and a bit surreal depiction of wartime life on Vancouver Island and the hardships of women left behind by the men fighting in Europe.
