Mediocre. Takes a slant away from the original book. Appears to be merely a Jack Black vehicle that puttered out.

Two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester were witness to their mother's paranormal death as children. Their father wants to hunt down the thing that killed his wife and trains his sons to fight so that when they grow up they will follow an unexplained journey to avenge their mother's death. Every episode features new demons the two young men must face as they try to find their missing father who is also a hunter of evil.

Interesting but by the end my interest was waning. I love the interaction between the two brothers (though it often strays into homophobia with Dean). This season had a secondary thread of trying to avoid Dean's death and venture into hell.
