Kurzbiographie
Peter Kwasniewski, born in Chicago in 1971, spent his youth in New Jersey, where attendance at an all-boys Catholic high school brought him an exceptional training in humanities and poor to non-existent religious instruction.

He went off to Georgetown University for a single year, after which he made one of the best moves of his life by starting over again at Thomas Aquinas College in California, from which he received a B.A. in Liberal Arts in 1994. Not having had his fill of Washington, D.C., he earned an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America, whose giant statue of Pope Leo XIII in McMahon Hall was a beneficent presence throughout.

After teaching philosophy and theology at the International Theological Institute in Austria and music for the Franciscan University of Steubenville’s Austrian Program (1998–2006), he joined the founding team of Wyoming Catholic College in Lander, Wyoming, where he served as the first Director of Admissions and Assistant Academic Dean, directed the Choir and Schola, and taught, over time, all of the theology courses and most of the philosophy and fine arts courses (2006–2018). He left WCC in the summer of 2018 to pursue a career as a freelance author, public speaker, editor, publisher, and composer, with the intention of dedicating his life to the articulation and defense of Catholic Tradition in all its dimensions.

Over the past twenty years, Kwasniewski has published over 1,300 articles, both academic and popular, on sacramental and liturgical theology, the aesthetics of music, Thomistic thought, and the social doctrine of the Church. His articles have been translated into at least 18 languages.

This might be the best book Peter Kwasniewski has ever written. The importance of authentic Christian marriage and family in our violently ill society cannot be overstated. I have a profound interest in the subject, and Dr Kwasniewski's facility with words, his substantial intellect, and his cunning in anticipating and “pre-dismantling” opposing arguments make this book a pleasure to read.

There are many commendable parts to this book and many passages that are transformative. For example, in chapter 3, he expounds movingly and beautifully on the marriage between Tobias and Sara from the book of Tobit. Chapter 11 is considered to be the most philosophically complex chapter of the book and yet, it is also the most thought-provoking and introspectively-rewarding in the way it elaborates on the nature of marriage. Chapter 27 paints a stark, visceral, and necessary image of the devil’s war against the family, the sacraments, and our role in it.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the cleverness of Dr Kwasniewski in quoting modern popes and theologians (in addition to and in support of traditional views on marriage, chastity abortion, etc.). In so doing, he deftly sidesteps the inevitable, banal, and meaningless accusations of "promethean neo-Pelagianism". Kwasniewski's book is not so much a source of admonishment or vainglory, but a call to clarity, to reality, to love, to truth – to God!

A wonderful explanation of the patrimony that Roman Catholics have been deprived of for the past fifty or so years, and a great apologetic for why we should embrace and grow to love that very same patrimony.
