This story tells about a girl and her hair that grows overnight. While her family and community are starting to get bothered by the smell of Dalia's hair, she explains that her hair is turning into a butterfly tree. This book is great for teaching all kids about their natural beauty and is written in Spanish as well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars.

I did not really like this book. I found it to be very confusing. The very first page begins with, "As Dalia slept, cuddled up in her mama's cool silken sheet, her hair was unfolding and growing." This leaves readers with questions from the start like, "Why is her hair growing?" This is something that is never explained in the story, which is very frustrating. I also thought it was confusing that Dalia knew what would happen to her hair. She knew her hair would turn into a butterfly tree. This is clear when Dalia says, "You guessed!" to her mother after she correctly guessed a butterfly tree. How did Dalia know this the whole time? Then, on the last page, Dalia asks her mom if she likes honey, as if she will do more magic with the bee's honey. I don't think this was a satisfying way to end the book, and it left me with even more questions. However, I loved the illustrations and vibrancy that emanated from them.… (mehr)

When Dalia's hair mysteriously grows overnight, she sets about to turn it into a butterfly tree. Although friends and neighbors are initially disgusted by it, they eventually come to appreciate what she has done when her hair fills the community with butterflies. Text is presented in both English and Spanish with a glossary of Cuban plants and animals in the book.
