2283 A Walk to Rome, by Dennis Larkin (read 3 Apr 1990) This is a 1987 book about the author's walk from north of Nuremberg in Germany practically straight south to Rome, through the Brenner Pass. It is really quite an undertaking. He walked all the way, but got sick in Italy, and interrupted his trip, but later resumed it at the point where he had stopped. But the book is so personal, and really tells nothing but what he saw and felt. He is a good Catholic, and says good Catholic things. But it was not the kind of travel book I like--one that tells you many things. I will next read Belloc's book, The Path to Rome, which is the book which inspired this one.… (mehr)
