What ages would I recommend it too? Twelve and up.

Length? A few days to read.

Characters? None.

Setting? Real World.

Written approximately? 2014.

Does the story leave questions in the readers mind? Many. How to fix the mail being stuck in archives. In the Calander - what does it always want to set times at the 00:15 instead of the 00:00? What do Kern, Ligatures, and all those other terms in Pages mean? Virtually no coverage of VoiceOver. Not even a link to a step by step guide or a dictionary of the undefined terms used in the VoiceOver training.

Any issues the author (or a more recent publisher) should cover? Answer the questions above.

Short storyline: A thumbnail sketch of some of the basics for the Mac user who is not visually impaired.

Notes for the reader: Although a few visual impairment programs are noted, there are no real instructions on how to use them. Also, the font is microscopic, so people over the age of 30 likely need someone to read the paragraphs to them. They can see the headlines, not the paragraphs. He spent too much time harping about his own consulting business.

The usefulness of this book will depend in large part on how much experience the reader has with Apple computers in general. For those who are new to the ecosystem, it will probably be very helpful -- it covers a number of broad topics that apply to Apple computers in general, as well as the new features in Mountain Lion. But for confirmed Appleheads who want a bit of help with the latest version, this book is not that helpful -- at least it wasn't for me. Most of the book is stuff that I already know, the bits on new features in the software didn't create many "aha!" moments, and the hard questions don't even get noted. For that, I had to go to the on-line forums, and/or call Applecare. Everytime a new Apple product or big software upgrade comes out, I rush forth and buy a "For Dummies" guide. This is probably a conditioned response of the print-dependant. Maybe sometime I will get over it.

Really basic abbreviated overview of how to use your iPad. I'm sure the full edition has more information.

Didn't really use it. Maybe I'll get it again when I know what I want from it.

Some utility, but not much.

I didn't finish this book, because nearly everything in it I'd already figured out for myself. I think this would be useful to people who are just starting out with a Mac, but to anyone with experience of an earlier Mac OS, most of this will probably be obvious.½
