INTRODUCTION
It is no violation of secrecy to give the outer,
objective details of the various activities of the
Great White Brotherhood, but the genuine
conservatism of the Eastern Councils until recent years
has acted as a barrier against such publicity as we
in America believe necessary for the growth of any
public or semipublic institution.
After twenty years' study of the doctrines and
principles, and a very careful examination of all
matters pertaining to the history of the Order, one
does not find a single prohibition against the general
publication of the history except in such minor
details as are closely associated with the working
or manifestation of some of the R. C. doctrines.
While these exceptions are few, although of vast
importance to the higher students, they have un-
doubtedly caused the subconscious attitude on the
part of all R. C. Brothers and Sisters that it is
safer, in the face of their individual sacred oaths,
to refrain from all mention of either the antiquity
or progression of the Order.
There is also the element of mysticism which
explains the attitude of even the most advanced
Brothers and Sisters. Realizing, as most of them...… (mehr)

HISTORIE DE L?ORDRE DE LA ROSE_CROIX
L’Ancien et Mystique Ordre de la Rose-Croix, connu mondialement sous le sigle A.M.O.R.C., n’est pas un mouvement philosophique de création récente. Sa Tradition fait remonter son origine aux Écoles de Mystères de l’ancienne Égypte. Comme leur nom l’indique, ces Écoles antiques regroupaient des mystiques éclairés qui se réunissaient régulièrement pour étudier les mystères de l’existence. Avides de savoir et de connaissance, ces mystiques aspiraient à une meilleure compréhension des lois naturelles, universelles et spirituelles. En ce sens, le mot « mystère » dans l’Antiquité, c’est-à-dire au temps des anciennes civilisations égyptienne, grecque et romaine, n’avait pas la signification qu’on lui donne aujourd’hui. Autrement dit, il n’était pas synonyme d’« insolite » ou d’« étrange ». Il désignait plutôt une gnose, une sagesse secrète, connue uniquement des Initiés.… (mehr)

The style is, by modern standards, quite pedantic, and the coincidences sometimes even comical, but the overall premise of the book is intriguing, and will ring true to anyone who has an interest in mysticism and spirituality.
