Hugo The Secret to Happiness by Suzy Liebermann
This tablet book needs to be read sideways. Starts out with Hugo and all their friends, very colorful children's book. Find it hard to read dark print on a dark background.
They are sad because he can not find happiness. The others help him out.
Author bio at the end.

Hugo is a cheerful little starfish. He enjoys to make others happy, which in return rewards him with happiness.
But we all are sometimes hit by a sad spell and self doubt, even Hugo isn't prone to moments like that and finds himself small and ugly. He has convinced himself, nobody likes him.
Luckily he has a friend like the Magic Manta, who grants him six wishes. All Hugo has to do, is to say what he wants three times in a row and the wish will come true. The little starfish thinks, that's the perfect opportunity for a total makeover of himself. Now he can change his looks and that way, he will be as handsome as his friend and surely that will make him really happy. But does it?

It's Good To Be Me! is a wonderful story with utterly beautiful illustrations. Children will love to look at the bright and colourful pictures. Hugo is a truly likeable character and my son immediately loved the wee guy. The message of the little starfish is important and on the last two pages he holds up a banner for all to see, "Appreciation" it says. Hugo has learnt his lesson, true happiness lies within.
It's no wonder, the book was amongst the award-winning finalists for the USA Best Books Awards.
Highly recommended.

"If you want to be happy be." Leo Tolstoy

I reviewed ONE STEP AT A TIME (English Edition) (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH Educational Children's Book Collection) by Suzy Liebermann, in exchange for review from Tomoson. The book was published by Happy Language Kids, LLC.

The book is a Hugo the Happy Starfish book. Hugo is usually a happy starfish. He values love, friendship, and self-worth. In this book, Hugo wanted to climb the Matterhorn in Switzerland. He saw a picture on a candy wrapper and longed for adventure. Getting to the Matterhorn would not be easy. He had to go through a series of steps to find the mountain. The first step was to take a friend to the airport.

The book was a quick read and I enjoyed the book. The book teaches kids about not giving up, commitment, dedication, and setting goals. It also teaches kids about organization and following instructions. If Hugo did not follow instructions, he would not have reached his goals.

I reviewed IT'S GOOD TO BE ME! (English Edition) Educational Children's Book Collection (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - Educational Children's Book Collection), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

The book was written by Suzy Liebermann and published by Happy Language Kids, LLC. The book is a part of the Hugo the Happy Starfish series.

Hugo is a happy starfish, who loves to make friends and loves to make others happy, but something made him sad in this book. He thought changing his physical appearance would make people like him more. Hugo was granted wishes to change his appearance, but saved the last one. The last one was the most special of all. Read the book to find out what he wished for.

The book was a quick read. The book taught kids about self-esteem and self-worth. You don't have to change your physical appearance to get others to like you. Your friends should like you for you. You are special, no matter what.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I read the last bully, in exchange for review from Tomoson. I received a paperback. I also bought the kindle version previously. Hugo is a happy starfish, with a big heart. While, swimming along through the ocean, Hugo notices a friend getting bullied. Hugo steps in for his friend and also starts an anti-bullying club. Hugo wanted to stop all sea creatures from being bullied. Hugo maintained a positive attitude throughout the book. He did not resort to attacking or insulting others. The book was a great lesson in character development. The book was a quick read. It also used easy-to-understand language. The books was not too short, but not too long to lose a child's interest. I enjoyed reading the book.

I read this book, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. I received hardback books. The books were written by Suzy Liebermann. I also purchased the book in 2012 on a Kindle Free day.

Hugo is sad and looks for ways to be happy. He tries fishing and treasure hunting, but feels sad immediately after. He learns that happiness comes from within, in addition to making new friends, sharing, and helping friends. Children can learn about empathy, social responsibility, and empowerment through giving and sharing.

The Secret to Happiness is also an award winning children's book. It was an award winning finalist in the Children's Mind/Body/Spirit category of the USA Best books of 2012, sponsored by USA Book News. Once again, I enjoyed reading this book. The book was also colorful and alive. The story was just long enough to capture my children's attention, which I loved. This is a great book to read.

THE ISLAND OF OPTIMISM - Happiness Is A Choice (HUGO THE HAPPY STARFISH - Island Adventures 3) by Suzy Liebermann
Illustrated very colorful children's book showing Hugo on an adventure and he comes across a few of his friends. They got discouraged because they thought the distance was too long.
He also noticed they had a brown color on their skin.
They kept telling him it was too far to go so he gave up and saw his reflection and noticed he was brown now also, like them.
His friend told him what had happened and why he turned to brown and he realized he just had to keep going on, with his dreams and plans.
Excerpts from other books are included at the end and some English/Spanish phrases are shown.

The first thing that makes this book stand out ahead of the giant stack we have to review, and many others, are the vibrant, super colorful pages and beautifully detailed characters. This caught Deegan's eyes especially and we have read and re read this book so many times now that I know it word for word.
This is just one book in a series of Hugo the Starfish children's books, and it is the perfect pick for your child's first Hugo book. It is easy to follow, and will keep a busy 2 year olds attention! Deegan's favorite picture was when Hugo was when Hugo is wearing a backpack lol, he thinks cartoons with backpacks are hilarious. But he also enjoyed repeating words, especially the word, happy.
In this story, Hugo tries and tries and tries to find happiness. He asks his friend, Magic Manta, to help him find happiness. So, Magic Manta helps grant Hugo's wishes, but the happiness never lasts for to long. Hugo keeps becoming sad again and finds, Magic Manta, so he can ask for more happiness.
Hugo tries many things like, spending time with a friend, which did bring him some happiness, but it didn't last forever. He also found a treasure and bought everything he ever wanted, and had a big house, filled with all of his new things. But, he couldn't stay happy. ( I thought this particular part was an excellent addition to this story and the lesson taught! I often think about how money can not ever buy you everything you want and need, and we try our best to teach this to our children. Many people believe that their problems will all be answered if they just had enough money, a big house, and many things, but in the end, they are going to find that money really can not buy happiness.)
This is a lesson that even grown ups need to learn and this was certainly a good time to discuss this again with all of the little ones.
Hugo comes back to his buddy, Magic manta, and is even more sad, even though he is driving his fancy new car. He tells, Magic Manta, that he is a hopeless case. But, Manta immediately tells Hugo that he doesn't think so, and tells him it is simple to be happy and to share with others!
So Hugo starts to understand the meaning behind happiness and how to feel truly happy and decides to share his heart with others. Genevive loved this part of the story because Hugo's heart ended up being so happy that it did somersaults! lol! Genevive explained that that's what her heart does when she is the happiest little girl in the world!
Hugo the starfish is a regular length children's book, but this book has brought so many discussions up with our children, new ones each time! It is so much fun to be able to sit with the kiddos and have them chime in about what happiness is to them, and what makes them happy. That is what makes me the happiest:)
We would recommend this book to all families and for many reasons! Of course all that I pointed out above, and because this is 1 in a series of Hugo books, that all discuss different feelings, life skills and valuable lessons of character, attitude empathy, choices, consequences, and it is a very clever way to start teaching a 2nd language!
Suzy Liebermann, launched happy Language Kids Publications in 2010, as an interactive language program for children and even grown ups. This program is particularly aligned with the aims and values she upheld as a teacher of cultural art and and foreign language at a prestigious International Baccalaureate World School.
Suzy and Hugo have a super fun website where you can find free games and worksheets and news about Hugo, Suzy and all of the rest of the stories in the Hugo series. You can also find some neat information about the author and the visiting author program. (Oh and Deegan's favorite Hugo Youtube video can also be found on the home page;)
We have had a lot of fun with this book and website, and I certainly appreciate the benefit of Suzy's books and ideas she shares to help our little ones become confident, happy, sweet little human beings! This is always something I admire in authors and teachers, and people who go out of their way to help our jobs as moms and dads, just a little bit easier!

** We received a copy of this book in return for our honest review **
