To be clear when I first read the title for this I thought it was about the insect variety wasp, not the elite social circle WASP. I'm glad I read the info blurb on it however, since the insect variety of wasp does not interest me at all :)

This is apparently Lipton's second novel, but I haven't read the first (It's About Your Husband) so I can't be certain if her style improved or not. I personally found it eager and refreshing. Peggy is a likable character and Luke isn't a bad guy. If you're like me and you know very little about what happens in families like the Vanderbilts or Rockafeller's (aside from the tabloids of course) this can be a very interesting to read.

Its by no means a deep book, or filled with super-secrets of what many consider to be American Royally (after all don't those families epitomize what America stands for? Making yourselves out of nothing and then building an empire with it?), but it can be amusing.

I wasn't certain how to view Peggy's handling of the affair with Luke--on the surface it sounds very self-serving of her, but honestly she isn't greedy or pretentious. She's given a way out of something embarassing while also helping someone out. Her own relationship was floundering after all.

This is a quick fun read with witty banter and amusing characters. Perfect for a day at the beach or by the poolside.

This is an uplifting and inspiring book of stories who found yoga to be a help in their lives. Many people in this book had huge problems and yoga was a huge help. Some people in this book had little problems and yoga was a little help. One person (when do you ever see this much fairness in a book?) found yoga but doesn't like it, and nevertheless continues to practice it. Such a lovely gem of a book for all of us who practice.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book through LibraryThing Early Reviewers in exchange for my honest review of it.

This book will appeal to anyone with an interest in yoga and may even encourage you to pull out your mat and fit in a little extra practice. It's so refreshing to see diversity of all kinds represented in this book, especially in size and shape. This book helps to dispel the myth that only skinny, fit individuals can practice yoga. Anyone can practice yoga, you needed be any of any "type" or creed. The essays are heartfelt and the portraits beautiful. This is definitely book I will return to, to enrich my own budding yoga practice.… (mehr)

Lauren Lipton's "Yoga Bodies" is subtitled 'Real People, Real Stories, & the Power of Transformation.'
And it's such a joy to see real bodies in action.

Each of us long time Yoga practitioners have our own story, but it's nice to meet these varied people and learn theirs. And it's a true joy to see the mix of ages and body types.

This beautiful book belongs in each Yoga studio, on coffee tables and bookshelves, and in libraries and gyms.

Much credit for the book's success also goes to Jaimie Baird for the great shots.… (mehr)
