This is a very simple color book. Each page gives you the English name of a color, as well as the Chinese name of that same color both in English and in character. There’s also an item associated with that color that’s also associated with celebrating Chinese New Year. These items are described with their history at the end. This book will help kids learn Chinese colors and match them with items they see during these celebrations.

This story is impactful and insightful, it talks about Chinese culture and the story of a boy and his father. The story surrounds a boy attending, watching, and observing their rehearsals for a Chinese Opera. It is a story of tradition, culture, music, and family. The language and content of this children's book are easy for all students and children of all ages, and a novel that I will surely include within my classroom lineup. This story is perfect for independent reading, or even a potential read-aloud to the students. The illustrations are colorful and beautiful to look at, the colorfulness and the cultural images create a beautiful story that all children should experience.… (mehr)

For beginning readers. A young boy wants to be a part of the Chinese opera, but he needs to train and work his way up to the top. He exercises patience. The illustrations are a very colorful and beautiful water color, and they compliment the story well. It represents Chinese culture well and in a positive light.

The young boy's father was the composer and leader of the Chinese Opera. Growing up, he has always looked up to him and learned how to perform on stage. This story follows the life of a young boy, learning the ways of Chinese Opera and what it means to persevere and push through times of difficulties. This would be a great book to introduce students to Chinese culture and the importance of working hard. This would be a great book for early elementary students.
