Rose Leary Love (–1969)

Plum Thickets & Field Daisies is a warm, sweet memoir of a close Charlotte, NC, community during the first half of the 20th century. Both the period of time and the place are gone now. The African-American community of Brooklyn was lost to urban renewal in 1969. We get to see through Rose Leary Love's eyes this place where she grew up as as one of beauty and loving connection. The Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County published her book in 1996 so that memories of this community would not be lost.
