Brooding over the fact that her ex boyfriend has just married her twin sister, the heroine falls asleep in a B&B and wakes up in 1887 in the body of another woman who's in the middle of childbirth. From that point on, she constantly confuses the people around her as she's completely different from the woman she's supposed to be. Her 'husband' hates her because of her affair with his twin brother a week before their marriage making him doubt that the newborn is his. For the first 5 days (my god days and this stupid woman still believe this was anything more than a dream) is extremely distant from the infant she must care for. She calls him 'it' and has little to no regard for the fact that he depends on her. When she finally comes to the realization that she is not dreaming but in fact inhabiting the body of a woman who actually died giving birth, she throws a mammoth sized hissy fit. She storms into the woods, intending to ignore the fact that the baby will die without her to feed him, and willing to get hypothermia in a bid for her guardian angel to send her back. I can safety say that for the majority of the book I didn't only strongly dislike the heroine, I HATED her. She was vain, selfish, whinny and self centered. She was beyond annoying. She threw tantrums about everything she had to do. She made sure everyone knew that she hated doing laundry or cooking or cleaning and what made it worse was the fact that the hero actually preferred her this way! What?! The hero actually liked that his wife was no long the timid well mannered and clean woman... He spent most of the book frustrated beyond belief with his wife's amnesia and uselessness but at the same time he was clear about liking the woman having spunk. I couldn't believe the stupidity in this book from both characters. First of all, this is supposed to be historical post civil war yet even the hero spoke with modern phrasing and terminology. It was off putting. That paired with little to no actual plot line or conflict, zero chemistry between characters and a heroine I wanted to stab with a dull weapon, this was a complete waste of time. So disappointing because I have enjoyed this author is this past but this was unbearable.… (mehr)

One night the heroine is convinced to go to a séance by her best friends and finds herself targeted by a ghost with stunning blue eye eyes who temporarily takes over the body of her friend. Captivated by the tormented man who pleads with her to come to him, she returns every night in hopes of seeing him again-talking with him again. Soon the possession doesn't just happen at the séances but whenever she's with her friend. Then one night a lightning storm hits and sends the heroine back in time and into the body of another woman. There she finds the blue eyed man whom she's falling in love with. She's taken the body of her ancestor and the man is the husband of her beloved cousin. Their desire for one another is page scorching and is as passionate and it is forbidden. Both crave one another but restrain themselves as they don't wish to harm the wife who's a decent and kind person. The heroine knows that the wife will die due to pregnancy compilations and even though she loves the woman's husband, she doesn't everything she can to save the woman but it's no good and she dies. This grieves both the hero and heroine because both parties feel a massive amount of gilt. The hero flees to the sea to help him forget his love for the heroine and she in turn remains to aid in the Flu outbreak. He returns some months later to the devastation the sickness had left and realizes that no matter how far he runs or how he tries to fight it, the hero will always love her and he's tired of fighting it. But the heroine knows that just as she knew about her cousins death, she also knows that Amily and Griffin are fated to die before their wedding. So she tries to run and distance herself from him in a bid to save his life. But what she doesn't realize it that he would rather die than to spend one more second without her. If the plot summary above seemed rushed and haphazard put together, I must apologize but that's the way this book was written. In most cases I feel like book came drag out and be too long but not this book. It's only 260 pages without the epilogue and as such was in fast forward mode. Everything was rushed to almost comical degree and I wished that the author would have just taken her time and explained on what I thought could have been a marvelous book. That and the massive amount of grammatical and spelling mistakes made he think that this was filler book and just something the author the threw at her editor. But I felt hints of the magic that could have been in the book and as such I felt torn between the rating. I felt the torment and the longing between the characters and loved it but at the same time it was far from perfect and had the feeling of a less the committed attempt by the author. Sooooo, a 3 star rating I think is more than fair. Damn it, I wanted this book to be good!!!!!!!!… (mehr)

The Ghost of Christmas Present by Jenny Massie Lykins
Alane has rented the cabin for the holiday. She needs a bit of solitude to get her sketching back.
Problem is Jared the ghost resides at the cabin. He appears and scares her into a faint. They talk

She finds out why he can't leave, ever. He is up on the times but they can't find a movie to watch so they listen to her CD's.
David shows up and she reads him the riot act and after he leaves she sits down and starts painting while talking to Jared.
His life is drained and he is very weak from his actions...He tells her of the curse...The new owners want to see their cabin but Jared and Alane have other plans...
Love this novella and especially the outcome...

Time travel romance that's not very well written but kind of fun nonetheless.
