Jelly is married to her high school sweetheart John, with whom she has two adorable kiddos. She loves being a stay-at-home mom, but lately she's been feeling "berry blue" inside. With her husband John's encouragement, Jelly returns to work, but that doesn't fill the emptiness inside (though the extra dough is nice). Eventually she decides to go to therapy and, with professional help, lots of hard work, and medication, Jelly's good days start to outnumber the bad.

If Ted Mullens was a psychologist instead of a veterinarian, DONUT FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING SAD is the kind of book he'd hand out to his patients. It's injected with donut puns to the point of bursting, but in the best way possible. The book's adorable artwork and irreverent vibe make for a gentle, judgment-free reminder that depression happens, and it's fine to seek outside help.… (mehr)

This book was cute and covers an important topic, but I'm confused about the intended audience. I was looking for a book that would help teach kids about feeling feelings in a healthy way. However, the book is about a mom navigating her life, trying to fix her depression by returning to work and then returning to being a stay at home mom when that becomes too much. This is an important discussion that many people may relate to, but it's not a situation that's applicable or relatable to kids. Perhaps an adult going through a similar situation would find the book a helpful reminder that they can seek help when they are struggling with mental health?… (mehr)

I feel like the category for this book is more young adult then child. The topic is more adult focused and too advance for children even to understand the puns or concept. I do think the book has a way of making a hard topic more light hearted. It may be a useful book if a parent was trying to explain how they felt to a middle school age child about depression or marital issues. I still feel that the book should be listed for an young adult crowd; I feel like it would recieve more revenue and be more appropriate. The illustrations and color are very appealing.
