The story starts very slow, introducing the various characters to establish the setting. However, it gets difficult to stay interested because the book is dialogue-heavy with the main action happening a lot later in the book. The dialogue feels rigid, and the characters' decisions seem very frantic and hardly thought through.

Every character has their own backgrounds and personalities that set them apart from each other. This helps to follow the chapters as the point of views change, as well as to understand the varied motivations surrounding the crimes.

The book is ideal for a quiet read, and the trial aspect is very well written and believable. The trial is the best part of the book, and personally would have enjoyed the book more if the focus took place in court a lot sooner; the author has experience in law, and the book could have centred around that with less of the rigid interactions between characters.

I received a free copy and am leaving a review voluntarily.
Thank you to VRO and author.

Bitter Choices by William Manchee
This book starts out with Stan and about his life, family and work life. His son Reggie is now part of the lawyer team, Paula and Jodie are devoted members also specializing in their own fields.
Stan takes on a case that leaves him with the man’s investment company. He keeps the others in the firm out of it when he finds out a cartel is involved. FBI Is also helping him unril...
Reggie's friend from college wants him to take a case as it involves his family. He gets advice from the women in the office and discourage him because personal injury suit could lead to hundreds of hours but no money when it’s over.
Love catching up with the family and the cases they try. clues are given and all indepth research.
Such fascinating cases and how they proceed.
Lots of action, cartel, company negligence and witness protection service. Tearful moments with fire, who goes missing and other disappearances. Such caring lawyers as they provide a well worth service for justice.
Can’t wait for the next as more pieces fit into the puzzle.
Has been quite a few years since I’ve read a Stan Turner mystery and I had just started a 2 week vacation and jumped at the chance to review this one.
Author describes detailed scenes, it’d be perfect for a movie. Has something for everyone love, romance, travel, mystery, action, cartel and business dealings.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

This is not a terrible book. (It didn't make it to my sucks-ass bookshelf.) However, it does have some problems. It really needs a good proofreader and editor. There are typos and mistakes on most every page. It got to the point where the errors were so distracting they detracted from my enjoyment of the story. For example, in the blurb on the back cover a character named Rob Shepard is referred to as Ron. Silly errors like this are scattered throughout the book. If this were a first draft of a novel, I probably would rate it three or even four stars since it is an enjoyable story, but no published book should have this many errors.

I enjoyed the plot of the story, and think it could be made into a good book. Unfortunately, in this book the descriptions were inelegant and simple, and a lot of the dialog was stilted and forced. The book got preachy at times. Especially as each female character wanted to sleep with the protagonist Stan Turner, but he is pure of heart and turns them all down since he is married.
