Minding the Store von Stanley Marcus
A very interesting biography of a most interesting man. A few surprises, to me at least, and a healthy history of the famous store in Dallas.
Stanley Marcus writes an insightful story of Nieman Marcus as a leader among stores that cater to discerning shoppers. Marcus pitches his store as one that did not necessarily aim for the wealthy, but more for the discriminating and savey shopper - many of whom were wealthy. Marcus was a brillian man who knew how to sell; more importantly he knew how to educate and lead his customers into cultivated tastes that his store would satisfy.
