This story is about a girl named Lily. Unfortunately Lily's dad is deployed overseas for military purposes. In Lily's eyes her dad has been gone for "a million days." As the story progresses the readers start to see that Lily is having some behavioral problems and is acting out due to her dad's deployment. Therefore, because of this Lily's mom has to help her find healthy ways to cope with her dad's deployment. In the end Lily is able to find healthy ways to cope and her dad is able to return safe and sound. I really liked reading this book and reading it from a little girl's perspective of her dad being deployed. I think what Lily goes through in this story are all to real for children in military families. I was never a part of a military family, therefore I don't understand and can't empathize with the feeling, however, it was good to gain perspective especially from a little girl's point of view.… (mehr)
