This is the black and white 1962 movie produced by Darryle Zanuck of the studio then called 20th century Fox based on Ryan's1959 book. It was voted as best picture in the Oscars. It has some persons speaking in German and in French, subtitled. Many American and British actot had parts. Some were established stars in the American and British movie industries. Some went on to success in movies and television. The book and movie were successful. Dark tale of one man’s determination to survive his tour of duty. Separated from his new wife after only eight days of marriage, private Doll suddenly decides that he will no longer blindly follow the orders of his superiors, following his own mind instead. 1947: Captain Jeff Eliott returns to Germany to thank the Lehrt family, who hid him during WW-II when his plane was shot down over Munich.
