Manifesting when it’s not easy (at first): when I first became an Eckhart Tolle fan, I thought I was doing something very different from anything money-related, and obviously I wasn’t alone in that cultural belief: “it’s easier to teach a workshop on sexuality than it is on money” ~Louise Hay; and that’s without getting into the personal anecdotes, you know. (Airy-fairy meditators: it’s a fun stereotype, but I do know somebody like that!) But one of the funny things about Eckie is that he actually does have a lot of money—almost as much as James Taylor, about the same as John Mayer. (Fun fact: Rihanna and Paul McCartney are I think the only two musicians who are billionaires, although some of them do better than the Eckie/James Taylor/John Mayer level of income. Obviously there’s more to happiness than that—it can be a popularity contest, and sometimes popular ideas are illusions in the “race consciousness” as some of the classic New Thought authors called it, but it is kinda a fun game. I remember seeing those search suggestions—also on Ecosia just as much as Google—when I wanted to know whatever I wanted to know about famous people, the many people wanted the money numbers, ~~pulls Taylor Swift shock-pout-judgy face~~ but now…. It’s a fun game. It shows you what people value.)

And the manifestation coaches like Jen, do coach you to have a lot of Eckie-esque skills, you know: acceptance, gratitude, seeing life as a process. Results don’t come immediately; until then, and forever, life is a process. So today I practice gratitude: I got a free ride to and from work, from the staff at the house; I was able to recover from the thing with the car and work my longer shift; I got excellent service from the AAA organization; I got free advice from the mechanic who came out; I have savings to pay for the new tires and more money coming in from my longer hours to replenish my savings; since I found out I had a flat tire in my driveway and I realized I couldn’t drive on it, I was never really in danger. Not: I have to pay out for new tires, even though I don’t have my dream job selling cars yet. Or, just the common belief that cars are a nuisance (“it’s always something”, as one person I know put it, although that kinda applies to how he sees the world, not something inherent in automobiles, right), and not appreciating the freedom, the relative safety, the convenience—as we certainly wouldn’t pay the several costs if we didn’t receive a benefit. Just grousing, you know—isn’t going to make him feel better. I call him Mr Ken Honda. If I drove a Ford, it would be a girl—Debbie Ford. You get the idea. Just the gratitude, you know. Don’t wait until something great happens. The present is a mystery as much as the future. Trust what’s happening in Spirit.
