I think if you are serious about getting into boxing this book and dvd combination would give you the information to put together a training workout for yourself. The book has clear descriptions of both boxing and training exercises and the dvd shows them. If you are looking for a simple cardio workout with a boxing twist there are more appropriate workouts. The exercises on the dvd are one-sided, which is problematic for a general purpose workout, where you'd like to work out each side of the body evenly. On the dvd, the boxing moves in the workouts are always leading on one side. The dvd is also constantly broken up with mini-introductions before each exercise, which I found distracting. I found Martin Mckenzie to be very clear, pleasant, and down-to-business.… (mehr)

One of the better fitness books that I have encountered. Useful exercises with good pictures and text. The accompanying DVD is helpful for seeing demonstrations of the exercises, although the clips are short so you're still putting your own workout together. Good resource overall.

I wanted to read Total Knockout Fitness by Mckenzie and Kirchner because I was looking for new work out ideas. The book and DVD are awesome, and although I wasn't looking to implement boxing into my workouts, this book makes the whole idea quite feasible.
This book is a total package including equipment, nutrition, and various routines for the beginner, intermediate and advanced exerciser. Although, I will be unable to perform the jumping, skipping, and fancy footwork due to knee issues, I was pleased to see there are a variety of other movements I can do, and some exercise demonstrations even offer modifications. I am looking forward to utilizing the punch precision ideas in my workouts.

In addition, the sections on cardio, weight loss, toning and shaping, and strength and power are extremely helpful and demonstrate how versatile this Total Knockout Fitness Routine is.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to add a little adventure into their present workouts.

Another well done book by the Human Kinetics team. The pictures are great, the video is solid, and overall this book is as advertised. Without overwhelming people with detail, I would say this is a great book for beginners and intermediate who want to introduce Boxing/MMA activity to their workouts. The and the photos in the books are the usual solid work by Human Kinetics, but when you add the video, this is a great bargain.
