Overview of some different fields and approaches to psychology and what psychologists do. Reads more like a hook to get teenagers to decide on psychology at university.
The book is divided into 10 small chapters, and it covers the basics: perception, learning and memory, reasoning and communication (language), motivation, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology and social psychology.
However, this book was simply too much the freshman lecture for my taste. The theory and the practice of psychology raise very imporant philosophical and political issues and this book simply never got there. Perhaps it is too much to ask of a Very Short Introduction, but I would have prefered that author take a more critical stance, even one with which I disagree.… (mehr)
