{My Thoughts} – Rowan and her best friend Jess and her baby Jacob all share a two bedroom apartment above Rowan’s ex High School guidance counselor. Mrs. J now known as Tanya to both Rowan and Jess help them out the best she can now that they are no longer students. She helps them with the baby when she is able to and she gives them advice and still tries to guide them in the right directions.

This whole book is mostly based on Rowan finding out, how hard it is to live with an infant that cries a lot and barely sleeps. This makes it hard for her and Jess to sleep, to function, and she has problems with keeping up in school and being alert for work. Rowan has it fairly lucky though since she works for an animal shelter and her boss is a very understanding person.

Rowan also works on repairing her relationship more and more in this book with her Gran which I found to be a really awesome thing, because when it came down to it her Gran was someone she seemed to truly love and care about in the first book. We also learn more about her sister Trina and her poor choices and a lot more about Jess and Mike.

Book two also ended with her meeting a boy named Shane and we learn more about him as well. If I had to judge both Shane and Mike and decide who I’d rather date it would be Shane hands down. If you read this book I am sure you will fall in love with his character as much as I had. Throughout this book Jess struggles with being an eighteen year-old mother and with that struggle everyone around her is forced to struggle. One night she takes off and leaves the baby with Rowan. If you want to know what happens? If she comes back? Why she made the choice to leave? You’ll need to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice fast read like the previous two. It has a wonderful story line that I found enticing and easy to relate to. I also enjoyed it so much that I highly recommend it and the previous two. This series helps to go over and cover many issues that take place when teenagers are in High School and when they head off to college. I really think that if you enjoy realistic fiction reads that you will enjoy this series as much as I did. It is nicely written and was really difficult to put down.

{My Thoughts} – Rowan is a sweet seventeen year-old girl that is treated as the outcast of her family. Seven years ago when she was ten she was told that she was the reason that her little brother Aiden was dead. That night her parents had gotten into a fight and her dad left. Her mom went into her room and locked the door leaving the children to fend for themselves. Rowan was the oldest so most of the responsibility had fallen on her shoulders. She had thought she had done everything right, she made his bottle, she fed him, she burped him she changed him and she’d put him to bed. She found a blanket and wrapped him up so he wouldn’t be cold. But the next morning he was dead and she was told that the blanket she had put on him had caused him to die because he’d over heated.

The past seven years hadn’t been easy on her. She lives in a less then ideal environment. Her father and sister treat her like she either doesn’t exist or she is soap scum. Her mother hides in her bedroom day in and day out with depression eating her feelings away. And then there is her Gran that visits from time to time but doesn’t seem to care about the way that Rowan is treated.

Rowan has a sister named Trina. Trina is outgoing and bubbly. She is everything Rowan is not. Trina has had lots of boyfriends where as Rowan has had none. One day Rowan gets partnered up with a boy named Mike for a homework assignment and she realizes how much she is attracted to him. Could she have a real relationship with a boy? Could her life move forward? Will the past always hang over her head? Will she ever be forgiven? Will she ever forgive herself? Does she have a future to look forward to? All these things are questions I had been asking myself while I was reading this book.

I have to admit, I cried, I giggled and I down right enjoyed everything about this book. I am looking forward to starting the second one as this one was a real attention grabber. It was also a very fast read. If you’d like to know what happens in Rowan’s life you will want to read this book! I am sure that you will enjoy it as much as I had.

{My Thoughts} – Rowan, such a sweet yet incredibly troubled girl. I understand how she feels, I get what she has had to deal with and is forced to deal with. She has one bang up family that is for certain. My heart breaks just reading about all the pain she has had to endure over the years. Things don’t seem to get much easier for her in this book. She still is forced to deal with so much pain, but she has found better ways in which she manages to cope with that pain. Poetry is a good coping method and even though it is short and brief, the poems used, you can still feel the pain beneath them, the pain that they are portraying. The pain that she is forced to feel and shows in her words.

I really enjoyed this book, it let us learn more about Rowan and her relationship with Mike and his parents. It also let us learn about Jess her best friend. I really like her because she is a bookworm and well she’s got interesting fashion sense. Like Rowan, Jess is one confused girl, both girls are just trying to sort out their lives, to figure out what is next for them once they leave High School.

Rowan hasn’t had much in the family support department from her own family, but she has tons from Mikes. I suppose it helped her out a lot that they fell for one another since his mom had empty nest syndrome going on. It’s amazing how lucky some individuals can be when they fall in with the right people. Sometimes being noticed by the right person can be a good thing and in her case I think it was. It got her out of her families care where she’d been poorly treated and into a house that taught her about love and better ways to be around people that care about you.

I laughed some, I cried some, but mostly I just related with Rowan and Jess and their story within the pages of this book. If you enjoyed the first book I am sure that you will without a doubt enjoy this book. I look forward to reading the next book in this series!
