This is not high art but it was a perfectly delightful piece of fluff to read on a holiday weekend. Trashy, funny, with a bit of heart. How could I not love a book that references Brady Bunch, Melrose Place and 90210 (original formula)?

This was the first book I borrowed from the Amazon Prime kindle lending library.

I was gifted a copy of the book by the author but that in no way shapes my review. Trust me, if I don't like it, you'll know.

As someone who turns 40 next year, I totally get Daphne. Things she said I've said or thought and I completely get not being where you thought you'd be by a certain milestone. I think that's the sign of a good character. One that you read and say I know you, I am you! I see the book labeled as a romance and while sure, there are undertones of romance, I'd say it is more of a self-romance. Rediscovering who you are and why you are awesome when you haven't felt that way in a long time is probably the issue at the core of this book. I really enjoyed it and now I'm reading for a smoothie and the beach. Wonder if the island in the book is a real place?… (mehr)

Let me start this review with an apology to the author. I read this book days before the actual release so I could a review out and then life happened and now here we are, 4 days post release day with no review. Maria Murnane is an awesome woman who I have had the pleasure of talking with through a series of emails and I feel terrible that it has taken me this long to get to the review. But better late than never I say. On to the review!

Bridges takes place about a year after we leave Daphne and her friends in Wait for Rain. I was glad to catch up with these women because I wanted to know more. I finished Bridges feeling the same way. I was disappointed in Daphne's progress or I should say lack of progress and hope to see another book with her kicking ass like I know she wants to.

I liked seeing a different side of Skylar and the twist with KC was fun. This book reminded me of my long ago desire to live in NYC for a year and I now need to go. I found myself jealous of the characters for being there and especially jealous because they got to go see Hamilton. (Seriously though, someone hook a sister up with some tickets).

I liked the book, I just wanted a little more happiness for Daphne and I felt like the ending was a set up for another book so come on Maria, give me the goods!!

I received this book from the author and the publisher through NetGalley.

Received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I fell in love with Maria Murnane when we met Waverly Bryson and she hasn't let me down since. Kat might be one of my new favorites. I love stories where people discover they might not be who they thought they were and go after what they want even if it's not what other people want for them. I enjoyed this book a lot and can't wait for Murnane's next one.
