The book is organized to take a professional through the theoretical issues of cultural competence, and then implementation strategies to use when planning programs that make cultural competence relevant and important. The issue of the plethora of digital connection is embraced and explored as it has changed the way professionals do business. Suggestions for digital applications and media are intertwined with this book. The contents of this book are refreshing, but the cover is dated. However, the forward is uplifting and important to read. It would be so easy to overlook these titles, but this type of reference tool allows librarians to go outside of their world and develop a balanced collection in areas they aren’t necessarily expert in. Would that there were such lists in all such areas. This book spends quite a bit of time working on convincing professionals of the need; why not spend this time and paper more on just how to meet the need? Well indexed, we liked the keyword index as well as the resource citations (both print and non print). Recommended if you need something in this area.… (mehr)
