The flavours are great, the production though is lacking. Farmer and Chef: Asheville gathers together eclectic recipes from the now famous eateries of the Asheville area. Some are unique twist on a old favorites. Some are as unique as Asheville itself. Our cookbook club used this for two club sessions - I missed one. However, from the one I attended I have to say I wasn't disappointed in any of the dishes. I have made three things from the book, and all but one had me jumping back and froth to different sections of the book. One recipe for deviled eggs was made up of three different recipes scattered throughout the book. All of the components for the recipe where fabulous, especially the bacon jam, but going back and forth was tedious. I found, as did several of my club mates, that whole steps were left out of some recipes leading us to wonder it the editors tested the recipes themselves or just dropped what was submitted by the chefs without attempting to follow the recipe. With some dishes this was not a serious problem, but for recipes that included baking, it was.… (mehr)
