First sentence: Sometimes cats seek. Sometimes they hide. Sometimes they find things and climb right inside! Sometimes cats stretch in the warm morning sun. Other times, climbing just sounds like more fun. Sometimes cats cuddle and snuggle all day, but sometimes they want to leap, jump, and play.

Premise/plot: This board book is a shape book, and a layered shape book at that. It stars PLENTY of cats.

My thoughts: I love, love, love cats. I do. I appreciate board books. I know not many adults read board books for fun, but I do. This rhyming board book is delightful. I like the text, the illustrations, and the textures.

First sentence: I thought I saw an elephant? Is it behind the ice cream shop?
I thought I saw an elephant? Is it in the pond?

Premise/plot: A child "sees" an elephant EVERYWHERE, but can you find the elephant too?

My thoughts: I wanted to absolutely love, love, love this one. I love elephants. I like interactive books with sliders. I do like this one. I do. I just don't love it. I thought perhaps it would go in a different direction. But if your little one is up for a game of hide and seek -- or slide and seek -- with an elephant, there's one to be found on every page.

Decent anthology. I rather liked Cassandra Khaw's story, "There Are Wolves in These Woods." YMMV.

This is a very short anthology that can be downloaded for free at https://doteveryone.org.uk/women-invent-the-future. The stories were all rather weird for my taste.½
