Descent into Love: How Recovery Cafe Came to Be
I am deeply moved and inspired. Simple, elegant and a call to community. I'm off to buy several copies so as to start a discerning discussion in a small group. It's time.
Full disclosure: I spent some time at the Church of the Savior in Washington, DC, and attended its Servant Leadership School. I also visited the Recovery Cafe at its first location in Seattle and work with people in recovery. That out of the way, this is a must-read book with a riveting story and the author's reflections on compassion, addiction, recovery and vocation. Her stories of the folks who spend time at the Recovery Cafe are capsule biographies of some of the most marginalized people in our society. I repeat, this is a must-read book!… (mehr)
