When I was a teenager I read a novel based on the life of Arbella Stuart, and was much taken with her and her situation.
When this book came out I just couldn't resist it. Before reading it I had had no idea that Arbella had Porphyria, another subject I find fascinating as the disease is present in many South Africans all of whom have descended from a single individual. For anyone interested in this period of history the book is well worth reading.
