Her openly personal and political columns - often evocative, finely crafted, and wickedly compelling - electrified the journalism of the 1950s
and set the stage for her star status among editors and fellow reporters.
What was strangely missing after her 1960s trip through The South with LBJ is a spirited and relentless attack based on the facts
that African American people down there had NO voting rights, no hospitals, no doctors, no dentists, no legal rights, no schools, and
no way to defend themselves from murders, rapes, beatings, and lynchings.
All of this could have been changed if the legal military force of the Kennedy government
had restored Reconstruction...and beyond.
Instead, all action was all too little and too late.
McGrory could have accelerated these desperately needed changes.
Instead, she was sadly entranced by The Kennedy effect and spent her time with the family at
Versailles, Hyannis Port, and Hickory Hill. .
She would also not have liked to see that she, and most of the liberal establishment, actually fell for Colin Powell's lies:
the closest we have been, since then and now in 2020, to a Weapon of Mass Destruction is the current president.… (mehr)
