A first grade anthology. Baby board book.

I love the illustrations in these really old books, but the plots and the writing are poor quality.

I vividly remember being moved onto these readers in primary school well ahead of everyone else. Although they are extension readers for the Janet & John series they were actually quite a good read, a proper story.

Great stories. As enjoyable as an adult as they were when I was quite young and read these as one of the first books I independently read for pleasure.

After the Sun Sets is a collection of stories and fairy tales, many of which are familiar today; including Cinderella, Snow White, Brier Rose, and Hansel and Gretel. This would be a great books to use when studying fairy tales or 50 year old literature. Many students may not have heard half of these stories and it would be a great way to introduce students to previous fairy tales and compare them to the ones we hear today.

What a wonderful book for learning about America, C. the immediate post war years. I loved this book when I was growing up, and must have read it at least fifty times.

beautiful illustrations

When I was in fifth grade, in a one-room schoolhouse in Wisconsin, we had the most amazing reader. Completely unlike the usual mundane stories offered to children, this was a saga about a family's trip across America, full of adventures and suspense. Runaway Home is the only schoolbook from my childhood that took its place in my heart and imagination, the only one that I had to search for and buy myself a copy to treasure.

One of my very favorite books as a youngster- i must've read it fifty times. Plus, the Tenggren illustrations are marvelous.

Book that changed my life in 3rd grade. :) There was a whole world to explore!
