I loved singing this carol with my mom as a child. I grew up and sang it a few Christmases with my children. I haven't sang it in awhile though and found I couldn't remember all the words. Gasp! I have grandchildren who need to sing! Fortunately I found this book. The pictures are lovely. The grandkids and I are now singing the words and having a lot of fun with this book. As I read it the first time I had a hard time not singing the words and had to explain why. As I shared the memories of my youth and their mother's youth, I realized that is what the best thing this book offers. Memories. Past memories blending with the present to make tomorrow's memories. This was a cute easy reader book about baby animals. The text was repetitive which is good for beginning readers and the illustrations were very cute. The biggest problem with this book was there would be a sentence such as: Puppies play with bones and balls, but the illustration is showing three puppies in a basket. It would be better if the pictures matched the sentence especially to assist with learning new words using picture cues. This would be a good book in a grade one classroom where students are just learning to read. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.… (mehr)
