What an amazing story! Creatures of legend exist and band together to battle the group that has been overpowering and controlling them. Vivid descriptions bring the story to life.

*I received a copy of this book for free. The review is my own, honest and unsolicited.

This trilogy comes to a close as the huldra Faline and her co-conspirator "Wild Women" finally ensure their independence with victory over the oppressive Hunters, an all-male supernatural group. Even more species of Wild Women (think various nymphs from a plethora of mythologies are brought in, adding to an already over-cast story that becomes a amalgam of bit parts. Since the novels are on the short side, most characters are under developed, even when they turn out to play key roles. The main story seems to be over now, and the ending did push credibility a little too far (and I'm not talking about the fantastical stuff). Over all, the series is just a little too rushed and shallow for my liking. I bet, however, a volume or three of short stories, focusing on characters other than Faline and better defining a particular group's activities in the modern world might make for a good side bar to this series.… (mehr)

actual rating: 3.5

A really good end to the series. I think it might have moved a little bit fast for me, but honestly that is much more preferable to many series these days that draw out plot points over 13 books when it's entirely unnecessary. Still, I think there maybe could have been one more book in this series. I'm not sure how I feel about the reveal about Marcus' background either, as I thought it kind of cheapened his overall arc**, but it definitely was interesting. Overall I really liked this series and thought it had some very interesting world building that combined traditional mythological creatures and modern day women's rights issues. Definitely a fun short series that I would recommend to anyone looking for an urban fantasy series that is more than just vampires and werewolves.

SPOILERS BELOW

**I mean it would have been nice if there were Hunters who took the Wild Women's side just because they realized it was the right thing to do and not because they had Wild Women blood themselves or were gay or were just concerned about the human women only
