Shielding the Innocent Target by Terri Reed pulled me in from the beginning. I liked the characters especially Kenny and Aslan (what a clever and sweet therapy dog). I enjoyed the action, suspense, and mystery. There were twists and turns that kept things lively. There is a thrilling conclusion to the whodunit. Faith was nicely woven into the story. My favorite phrase is from the verse in Romans “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” The finale had me smiling. I did feel, though, that the ending was a tad rushed (I would have liked an epilogue). I have a feeling that Kenny will continue to wear a cowboy hat like his hero. Shielding the Innocent Target is the final book in the author’s U.S. Marshal series (Lucas first appeared in Forced to Hide), but it can be read as a standalone. Shielding the Innocent Target is a suspenseful tale with a slain prosecutor, an adorable boy, a protective cowboy, an astute therapy dog, a resolute killer, and a rare romance.

Shielding the Innocent Target, concluding the wonderful U.S. Marshall series, is fast-paced and packed with action! I figured out early on who was behind the plot to eliminate the witness, but that did not distract from the enjoyment of the read. The smoothly flowing plot drew me in from the beginning and held me fast to the end. The characters are expertly crafted and realistic. The romantic tension between U.S. Deputy Marshall Lucas Cavendish and witness Paige Walsh runs as high as the suspense of the dangerous circumstances they find themselves in on their perilous trip from Florida to Texas never knowing who to trust. I love Paige’s strength and Lucas’s determination. Who could resist brave six-year-old Kenny and his super-attentive therapy dog Aslan? I enjoyed being reunited with characters from previous books. Even though there are carryover characters, this book is easily read as a standalone. I think fans of romantic suspense will love this story. I highly recommend it.

A quick stop at the boss’s office ends in a run for her life. Paige, a paralegal for a federal prosecutor, sees and hears a murder and now she is the target. Lucas is a US Marshal tasked with protecting her and her young son, Kenny.

Running for her life becomes a game of cat and mouse as somehow the murderer always seems to find her, her son and her protector. The danger will not end until the perpetrator is caught. Only problem - he seems to have endless resources as RPGs demolish vehicles and buildings alike.

The non-stop action of this Love Inspired Suspense is sure to keep you guessing all the way through. An early copy was received through BookFunnel. These impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

"Shielding the Innocent Target" by Terri Reed is another wonderful read by this Christian author! This is the last book in the US Marshal series. However, each novel stands alone and can be read in any order, without losing focus of the characters and plot. In the final book in this series, Paige Walsh witnesses the murder of her boss, Federal Prosecutor, Donald Lessing. Paige is not trusting of a lot of people. However, she finds that she must trust Deputy US Marshall Lucas Cavendish, if she and her son Kenny are to make it safely to Texas, and eventually into the Witness Protection Program. Thus, the adventure begins. The plot is filled with adventure and intrigue. Who can they trust? Is there a "mole" within the organization? Will there be a "happily ever after"? You will need to read this thriller to find out!

Shielding the Innocent Target by Terri Reed is a breath-stealing blend of romantic suspense and unshakeable faith. We meet Paige Walsh, a woman thrust into a terrifying situation after witnessing her boss's murder. As a relentless assassin sets his sights on Paige and her son, Deputy US Marshal Lucas Cavendish becomes their protector - a shield against physical harm and the relentless shadows of fear.

This novel goes beyond typical romantic suspense. Reed authentically portrays God as the comforting presence, offering solace amidst the constant danger. We see Paige clinging to prayer as a lifeline, the sovereignty of God -- drawing strength from her beliefs during moments of despair. Lucas, too, looks to God for His peace, guidance, protection, offering a unique dynamic to their bond.

What truly sets this book apart is the pervasive sense of danger. Unlike stories with temporary safe havens, the threat here is a constant companion. No matter the bustling city or desolate highway, the assassin seems to be one step ahead, leaving Paige and Lucas perpetually on edge. This relentless pursuit creates a suffocating atmosphere, amplifying the emotional stakes with every turn of the page.

In the face of relentless danger, Lucas's faith becomes a lifeline. His whispered pleas for divine intervention punctuate the narrative. From the providential discovery of a functioning truck despite a flat tire to the overwhelming relief of surviving a night unscathed, every moment underscores their gratitude for God's protection. These instances highlight the profound connection between faith and resilience, where even the smallest blessings are celebrated as divine intervention in the midst of life-or-death situations.

Shielding the Innocent Target isn't for the faint of heart. It's a white-knuckle rollercoaster ride where danger lurks around every corner. What elevates this novel is its genuine portrayal of the Christian journey. Through the characters' struggles and the ongoing terrors, the unwavering presence of God shines brightly. This journey leads to a deeper faith for both the characters and the reader alike. Brace yourself to be ensnared not just by the relentless suspense, but also by the formidable shield of faith, piercing through the darkest of circumstances with a beacon of hope and unwavering courage, hitting the target of your heart with its transformative force.

I received a digital copy of Shielding the Innocent Target from the publisher via NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review in any way or for any reason. My honest and unbiased opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing style, the pacing, and the story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.

Okay. This is a darling little story! I really loved how the hero connected with the baby, I didn't really feel a connection with the heroine but I still found this to be a wonderful short mystery.

Undercover Christmas Escape is a well written, action-packed story. The fast-paced plot with a lot of suspense and a little romance kept me turning pages. I love the interaction and unique chemistry between impulsive Deputy US Marshal Sera Morales and by the book DEA agent Duncan O’Brien as they work together as part of a task force to bring down a dangerous drug cartel. I especially appreciate the faith thread that is woven throughout the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and think that all inspirational suspense fans will enjoy it as much as I did.

Undercover Christmas Escape by Terri Reed has an undercover operation taking an unexpected turn when deputy US marshal Sera Morales’ missing sister turns out to be one of the bad guys. I had mixed feelings about Undercover Christmas Escape. I found Sera to be a frustrating character. She risks an important undercover operation for personal reasons. I understood that she wanted to find out what had happened to her sister, but I did not feel it should take a higher precedence than the joint task force drug case. Sera is one of those people who will do what she wants no matter the consequences. DEA Agent Duncan O’Brien likes things to be planned out, but he must deal with Sera’s impulsive nature if he is to keep her alive. Sera, of course, does not want help. Duncan must frequently persuade Sera to accept his help and let him be the front runner which leads to plenty of clashes. Despite both parties having trust issues, romance blooms between them. I thought the romance happened too fast (blink and you miss it). I can see plenty of disagreements in their future. There were some details regarding the case that I found out of place. I could not see this team of law enforcement professionals (they were not newbies) making such errors (I know it is fiction, but details matter). I felt the story needed to be tightened up. The Christian element was nicely intertwined into the tale. I appreciated that there was no foul language or intimate situations. There was plenty of action that kept the story lively. I thought the ending was cute and nicely tied into Christmas.

God is the only one in control. Will she trust in His plan?

Santa and Mrs. Claus at a Christmas party makes sense. But undercover, genius! No one would ever suspect Duncan, a DEA agent and Sera, a US Marshall, to be ready to apprehend one of the guests - someone they had been searching for. Toss in an unexpected meeting with a family member, lots of gunfire and plenty of other action, and you will not take a deep breath until you have finished the book.

I enjoyed this clean, love-inspired, romantic suspense. I bought this at a local Goodwill store and I've given it a 5* rating. This pulled me in pretty fast and had plenty of action between the heroine and the bodyguard (Fake fiancée). Lots of possible suspects along with several not so nice relatives to weed out. There were several involved before it was all sorted out at the end. This author always delivers a great read.

I really enjoyed this clean, love-inspired, suspenseful romance. I bought this at a local goodwill and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 5* rating. These men hardly know what hit's them when they meet the right woman. Lots of indecision on his part but the heroine is consistent in her goals. But someone is out to get them when they least expect it. Lots of action to keep you turning the page and answers toward the end. Good ending.

But the U.S. Marshal is deep undercover, and Abby Frost is a drug cartel's unsuspecting target. When the assailants strike again, Jace's cover is blown - and their only option is to run. But can Jace get Abby to safety . . . before she becomes bait in the cartel's deadly game?"
I truly enjoy suspense thriller books and this one is outstanding. The chase, the capture, the escape and the multitude of complications combine to make this a great story. The characters develop a believable relationship that naturally follows God's true course in such a wonderful way.

Detection Detail by Terri Reed
Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit #1. Harlequin contemporary from the Love Inspired Suspense line of Inspirational romance.
K-9 officer Nelson and his accelerator-detector dog, Diesel, investigate a car crash and a woman previously accused of arson. When she is targeted in the investigation, Nelson commits more time in searching for the right answers.

Gotta love the dogs that can do a job better than us humans can.
Suspense, action and twists with the mystery as it’s uncovered. I didn’t like that Nelson assumed she was guilty to start with but to give him credit, he continues to investigate. The romance is very small part of the story and references to faith count about a half dozen but aren’t too preachy or intrusive. A good action romance with a secondary character you’ll love in Diesel.

On her way to question U. S. Marshal Emmett Gage about a DNA match that implicates his relationship e in a cold case and a recent murder, Officer Belle Montera's attacked. Now she and her K-9 partner must team up with Emmett to find his cousin and the person after Belle. But can they figure out who's targeting he without becoming murder victims themselves?
Detective Henry Roarke's determined to prove his innocence to internal affairs officer Olivia Vance - but first he must survive the bomber targeting him and his mom-sniffing K-9, Cody. With a coming baby to protect and an investigation to pursue, Olivia has her hands full . . . until she becomes a target as well. Can they catch the bomber before they all lose their lives?
Both novels delve into what is expected at the heart of a good person and that is family. We all sacrifice our wants and needs to satisfy or pacify family. The authors present stories that explore relationship paths amid employment impediments. At the center of the extreme danger is the inability to deny what the heart wants and craves and that is undeniably love.

I really enjoyed this clean, K-9 Unit Rescue/Romance. I bought this at a local store and I voluntarily chose to review this. I've given this a 5* rating and plan to pass it on to my granddaughters. This pulled me in fairly fast and it was a fast moving, a lot of action kind of story. These troopers seem to come up against a lot of not nice characters. Some of them can be rather nasty. I was impressed how much they gain from their K-9 partners. I'm reading another story from the series next.

Alaskan Rescue by Teri Reid is a 2021 Harlequin-Love Inspired Suspense publication.

I had been curious about this line of Harlequin romance novels for a long time- so on impulse I grabbed one from the library.

This is a first in a series romance- not to be confused with a continuing series by the same author. (It’s a Harlequin thing- just leave it at that.)

The cover is irresistible- I love service dogs- and have begun to enjoy more books that are ‘clean’, and especially want to find more romantic suspense novels with plot lines like the ones I used to read before the genre changed. This book looked like it might be just what I was looking for.

The story starts off strong with our heroine, Ariel Potter, getting shoved off a cliff and a wedding party that goes missing. State Trooper Hunter McCord comes to Ariel’s rescue and from there they work to solve a murder mystery as their relationship turns into a romantic one…

While I did like some parts of the story, I don’t like unanswered questions and there were some whoppers that were never explained. There were also some plausibility issues at play, and the dialogue was unintentionally funny at times, but I did like the characters, and the dogs, of course.

Unfortunately, the plot had big holes, and the execution left a lot to be desired.

Overall, I liked this style of RS, but the story was not cohesive, and the romance- though sweet, was as unrealistic as the mystery elements. I will, however, give this Harlequin line another look someday. I’m sure I’ll find one that is a good fit for me.

2 stars

The story starts off with the murder of one of the police dog trainers (Veronica). Heroine Gina, also a dog trainer, thinks her evil murderous twin brother is the killer. Gina’s brother killed their father two years ago and now he’s after Gina since she was the one who turned him into the police. Hero Shane is a rookie K-9 officer who becomes Gina’s protector. This was such an enjoyable read with two likable leads. I enjoyed Gina’s evil twin brother. It was interesting having recently graduated rookie K-9 officers this time around. I truly loved the dogs in this one—Shane’s wonderful K-9 partner Bella, and the two adorable puppies in training, Lucy and Ricky. There’s another mystery involving a missing puppy named Marco, and a wonderful Desert Valley, Arizona setting. Some storylines wrap-up while others will still continue on throughout the Rookie K-9 Unit series.

"Mission To Protect" by Terri Reed is the first book in the Military K-9 Unit continuity series. I literally received this book and had it read in less than one day. I grew up in a military family, so any military-themed novels (both fiction and non-fiction), are near and dear to my heart. "Mission To Protect" did not disappoint. Ms. Reed did a wonderful job of developing the plot and characters in the first novel of this series. I love that one of the main characters, Sergeant Felicity Monroe, is a strong female role model. The plot is also action packed from the first page to the last, based on the two storylines.
Please keep in mind that this is a fiction novel. As stated by Ms. Reed in a letter to her readers at the end of the novel, creative license was used. Some military protocol is accurate, some it not.
If you are looking for an entertaining, well written, clean romance novel. I would definitely recommend this series.
I look forward to reading the remaining novels in this series!
