I started teaching Kindergarten this past year and thought this might be a fun and useful resource. Unfortunately the curriculum is so jam-packed I haven't figured out yet how to incorporate it into my teaching. Some of the puzzles seemed more appropriate for Kindergarten than others.

A fun collection of logic games for young children. My 4-yr-old son loves the sequences, an early step to the logical thinking needed for math. The copyright permits copying for a single classroom (and I am homeschooling, so that's a classroom!), so I can cut out the pictures instead of just writing the sequence, which makes it an even better manipulative. Each one-page lesson includes a paragraph of instructions to the teacher about how to explain it. We will be using it for at least a couple of years, I think!

Easy to understand lessons. Large print for young readers. May be hard to set itself apart, however, from other educational workbooks just because of the sheer volume of workbooks out there. Pleasant graphics make lessons enjoyable, as does the cover.½

As a 4th and 5th grade teacher, this book teaches some of the basic concepts of logic to young children. Often in the early grades, we are focused on math facts and children becoming speedy with that information. While doing this, we don't give enough time to the development of logic. What I liked about this book is the worksheets are easily understandable and do not require a lot of prework. These could easily fit into a morning meeting or a short mini-lesson on logic. In many of today's classrooms the larger math and reading required texts do not have a lot of flexibility (and take up a lot of time) so it can be difficult to fit supplemental materials into the day. So these short lessons could easily fit into small blocks of time and still be meaningful. They could also be the beginning of board work or used with an overhead projector.
Overall, this is a helpful tool to have in a teacher's library of materials.

As a second grade teacher, I am always looking for ways to challenge my students. While I love the concepts presented in this book, I was a bit disappointed by the content. I feel that this book would be better suited as a challenge for K-1 students, as it seems very easy for most second graders; however, it will be beneficial to some of my lower level students. My favorite sections of the book are the analogies and the critical analysis sections. In the future, I would love to see this book come with a digital copy that could be projected onto a digital whiteboard.

As a parent of small children, and a former small child myself, I think this book is wonderful. I have always been a fan of logic problems and sequence questions, but in school we got very few of these. My teen got even fewer than I did. I hate to think how little my toddlers will get a few years from now.

Enter Lollipop Logic, a wonderful book about logic, sequencing, analogies and other kinds of wonderful thinking methods. So different than anything I've seen before, this book even makes me think and I think that is a wonderful thing.

We tried a few of the simpler problems with our three year old and though she needed a bit of prompting, she did eventually come up with the answer - and she loved the pictures!

We'll be putting this one away for her until next year perhaps when she'll be four and we'll see what she can do.

Definitely a wonderful addition to your child's education whether homeschooled or public schooled.

Of all the September Early Reviewer books I requested, Lollipop Logic 3 was the one I was really hoping for.

And I am not disappointed. Lollipop Logic has over 50 assorted logic puzzles like analogies, relationships, sequence, inference, patterns and deduction (my favorite!) for the early- and pre-readers. Completing the activities usually involves circling or drawing lines or minimal letter and number writing or can be modified for students still grasping writing concepts. The illustrations are pleasant and the teacher instructions are thorough so any adult (including home educators), even those unfamiliar with logic puzzles, will be able to explain and assist their students through the activities. Answers are also included.

I am a teacher and librarian at a classical school and while the younger grades are focused on grammar and the acquiring and learning of facts, it does not hurt for them to have experience with logic and "higher order" thinking. After all, young children solve problems every day; that's how they successfully navigate their world. I am encouraging the pre-K, Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade teachers at my school to use this book for all it's worth and will pursue Prufrock Press's other titles for the older grades.

As a science teacher in an independent school, I believe this book really helps students to practice various skills-- all of which allows the child to begin to develop critical thinking abilities and deductive reasoning. I love that some of the activities provide students an opportunity to observe pictures (great for students who can't read yet or are just developing their skills) and compare each picture in order. It would allow a teacher to provide a chance for students to communicate their ideas and provide evidence for their answers.

Parents should be interested in this type of series as well-- this book would provide a lot of opportunity for your child to practice their thinking and learning skills during a traveling trip, vacation, or during the summer. Keep your kids thinking even outside of the classroom!

While I teach older students (in grades 3 to 6), I can see these activities being perfect even for older children. Great workbook and I would love to see a series made for older grades who have a stronger reading and thinking abilities.

This very interesting little booklet with reproducible pages, detailed instructions for teachers and an answer key in the back is certainly both a challenge and a game for children of the targeted age-group K-2.

Seven logical skills are being explored: Sequences, relationships, analogies, deduction, pattern decoding, inference and critical analysis. Each "lesson" (as the individual pages are called) is accompanied by teacher's instructions that tell you how to preface the lesson and what to caution students about. Sometimes the instructions are in fact instructions for the students, to be read out loud.

This book is easy to work with both for school teachers and home schoolers. The illustrations are appealing and will animate younger students to grab their crayons to color the pictures after the actual task is fulfilled - that's bonus. Our daughter (5) loves it for entertainment and development-appropriate (mild) challenge. Will look for more material of similar good quality.

Recommended!
