No one wrote camp gothic horror/romance quite like Marilyn Ross (pen name for W. E. Daniel Ross) and no TV show portrayed camp, gothic horror/romance quite like "Dark Shadows" so it's little wonder that this series of books should prove so appealing to fans of both the genre and the show. The forever virginal governess Victoria Winters (who just happens to be stringing three men along) is convinced she's being stalked by a killer, but who could it be? Surrounded by so many suspects, not to mention a forlorn ghost, it's going to take all her courage to unravel the diabolical mystery! Great fun....but unfortunately this Hermes Press reprint contains so many typos and grammatical errors that they ultimately prove distracting.

Great book and audio gave a vintage feel with the music.

Nice to see B & Q starting to work together finally. Masterful job on Kathryn's part interpreting all the different voices in this one. I wonder if she hears them in her head afterwards!!

That was different from the last 10 books but didn't really go into any details on why. Wierd

Why doe Quentin always have to be the bad guy? I liked him!!!

Amazing how Kathryn is able to talk Her way thru a whole book with all those vocal changes. And how does she keep them all straight in her head???

That was an improvement over the last few but still kind of stuck in that formulaic rut!! Have to listen to these audio recordings though as I am a diehard fan and just love to hear what Kathryn achieves with her voice in portraying all the different characters in each story!!

I think he may have already told that story. A slightly repetitive theme that seems to overlook the fact that Barnabas was actually locked in his coffin for 175 years

I do like how Quentin is starting to have a more empathetic worldview in these later books than he was portrayed as having in the first books he appeared in. I guess that is somewhat reminiscent of the TV series as he was pretty cold to start out there as well.

The secret is out!!! Kinda felt like I reread the last book, just the names and the dates were changed to protect the innocent

Whoa!!! There were aliens and a spaceship in that one!!!!

Wow, that Vicky Winters just won't learn will she??? Interesting to note the development of characters voices thru the progression of books. Well done Kathryn!!!!

And did you know Dark Shadows has it's own channel on Pluto TV? Dark Shadows all the time!!!! WOOT!!

Fast reads. Very fun.

Not quite the TV series but good. I have the entire series I beleive in good shape from my Mother. Some interesting variations from the tv drama. It was nice having Kathryn read this. Very enjoyable to listen to it while driving

Again Barnabas is and about during the daytime but no explanation behind the how. Could that be coming up in a forthcoming novel? I wonder.

A little uptick in action in this one but Quentin is still playing the bad guy, makes me sad as he really seems misunderstood here. Betting Kathryn was gargling quite abit while doing this reading with some of those voices!!!!

Dan was getting somewhat repetitive with his themes by this point but still they are as always entertaining!! Especially with Kathryn reading them!!!

Well we kicked it up a notch there!!!! LOL

I think I just heard that story 3 books or so ago. Marilyn must have forgot his stories as soon as he finished writing them!! Lol!! All part of the DS charm

Dan Ross really worked this formula for writing these stories!!!

Not the way I would have chosen to introduce Quentin in the book series

Don't know that I can take many more of these. So formulaic. I think Quentin comes into the next one so that will mix it up a little.

That was Book 9 and there is still no sign of Maggie Evans, although some fantastic sightings have occurred that imply Josette is with us

So much fun!!!
