It started off well, but the ending was rather boring. I also found the book was too Delhi-Centric. Otherwise, I found lots of new information about Indian History and the theory that the Aryans came from Central Asia and destroyed the Harappan Civilization is probably a myth.

An interesting history of the Indian Ocean countries since before the 'civilizing' mission of the european nations. Brings to focus so much of the native history burried either by the europeans or our own vested interests. A must read for a brief and overview of how things were in the region before and after the advents of the european colonies.

A very well-written and well researched book. An increasingly relevant perspective on looking at events as the Indian Ocean regains economic and geo-strategic primacy. What were, until now, mentioned only as footnotes in most histories of the sub-continent are interesting stories in themselves. A very easy read, this book will make you want to read more.
