David Scheinbaum

Tucked into the northwestern corner of New Mexico, the San Juan Basin has been subjected to industrial onslaughts in a race to stripmine the coal. Bisti describes the perils to this ancient land by the uncaring land owners and government agencies who see the area only for its exploitative value. Scheinbaum's photos of the delicate balance of formations exposed in 75 million years of erosion contrast with the last 75 years of exploitation.
