This is a fictional, fairy tale story. The artwork looks computer-drawn and colored using watercolor paints or colored pencils. The pictures are very colorful and inviting. It is about a little girl named Little Red Riding Hood because she always wears a beautiful red cloak with a hood. One day her grandmother is not feeling well, so her mother sends Little Red Riding Hood to take her some honey cakes. Her mother tells her to stay on the path and not talk to strangers. Unfortunately, Little Red Riding Hood forgets and soon finds herself talking to a wolf and going off the path to pick flowers for her grandmother. The wolf beats her to her grandmothers house and eats her, then eats Little Red Riding Hood when she gets there. A hunter hears the wolf storing in the grandmother's bed and goes inside and kills him and cuts him open so the grandmother and Little Red Riding Hood can escape. He is glad they will never have to worry about the wicked wolf again. This story teaches kids to obey their parents and do what they say. They always know best whether you like it or not. You could have your students dress up like little red riding hood or the wolf one day at school. The reading level is probably second grade because there are several words per page and some of the words are long. The curricular connections are: family, sickness, honey cakes, flowers, wolf, and obedience.… (mehr)
