This Compleat Anachronist (#144) arrived today, and as I paged through it, I found myself reading it. The author talks of hairstyling tools, products, and how to make both a single braid down the back, and the Norman style of two braids, on either side of the face. I thought I knew how to braid hair, but clearly I do not -- I'll have to try her method! She also solves the problem of how to fasten the hair at the tip - we use rubber bands now, but what did they do then? I did not expect to be captivated by the subject, but spent an enjoyable half hour reading it. Recommended.… (mehr)
