Lillian is a pop star hiding from the paparazzi because of a bad breakup with her more famous actor boyfriend. She’s heading to a remote cabin in the snowy mountainous region of Wales and almost hits a wolf. Though she missed him, she finds blood on the road but can’t find the injured wolf. She continues to the cabin and later finds the poor wolf at her door. She lets him in, bandages the wound, and calls him Wolfie.
Jake is the alpha of his pack. Injured in an old hunter’s snare, he goes to the cabin for help since he can’t make it back to the pack. He instantly knows Lillian is his mate from first sniff and is determined to seduce her in her dreams. Probably about half the book is in dream sequences.
I couldn’t connect with the H/h. Lillian acted too flighty and had an affair with Kurt, a married man, but at least she believed he and his wife were separated and in the middle of a divorce. Kurt did a lot of awful things to Lillian and never got his comeuppance in the end. Jake took a long time to tell Lillian the truth, and when he finally did, she accepted the fact that werewolves are real pretty easily.
Other than a few typos, the story is well-written. The author flip-flopped between the H/h’s POVs way too often (multiple times, back and forth, per chapter) but at least the shifts and scene breaks were properly labeled. I liked the plot and the universe the author created, but I really wish I could’ve understood Lillian and Jake better.

Busted was written for the Goodreads M/M Romance Group’s 2014 Love’s Landscapes event. It’s about the growing relationship between Daniel Boisseau and Jamie McKenna and told in first person through the eyes of Daniel.

This is a fluffy, feel good, gay-for-you story. It starts with Daniel doing a favor for his best friend Nick, who’s a photographer. Dan thinks all he needs to do is help set up lights like he usually does. But Nick wants him as a model for a calendar shoot that includes gay models. Dan is very anxious about the shoot because he insists to himself he isn’t gay. But he gets extremely aroused during the shoot, especially when he is watching Jamie, who’s watching him. Jamie’s a representive of the company that paid for the calendar shoot. After muddling through some slight misunderstandings, Dan and Jamie go on a date. I’ll keep the rest of the story a secret, but suffice it to say it’s a HEA or a strong HFN.

I did have one question about this story. What country does it take place in? A restaurant is called 'Chicago something or other' which makes me think the USA. But then they call each other 'mate,' so I'm thinking Australia/NZ or the UK. I'd like to know where this story took place.

I really liked the way the author handled the gay-for-you idea. The author also stuck to the prompt very closely. Busted is a simple, fluffy story that made me feel happy at the end, I give this 4.5 Stars and raise it to 5 Stars

Baby, It’s Hot Outside Romance Collection – A Christmas Down Under

I have read four of the twelve stories; two authors I have read before, two I have not read, and there are still eight more novellas to look forward to reading and all take place “down under”, are steamy and will end with a happily ever after for the starring couple.

Kris Pearson is the author that drew me in – I love her steamy stories – and having other authors with holiday romances included in this anthology made it all the more intriguing.

The males in the stories read so far have been: a scientist injured on the job, a cowboy of sorts, a wounded military man, and a famous French actor.

The female love interests have so far been: a rather quiet solitary middle child sister, a horsewoman, a PR type daughter of a commanding officer, and a destitute woman thrown out of a job and taken in to be a nanny.

Some of the stories are no doubt part of a series but series that I have not read and some may be one-offs as they stand alone complete and perfect without a series to support them.

I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the future but want to get this review up now. The collection will disappear before the end of January 2022 so do pick it up before then, meet some new authors, and enjoy the holiday spirit…down under.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kris Pearson for the ARC – This is my honest review.
