Though this book is a young adult book, it is heavy. I feel like I should add a note that it has mature content. There is suspense, there is love and tenderness and fear. You can have all the money in the world and still live a life of fear. I would say that I chose this book out because of the title and the book cover. It is strong and makes a statement. Sometimes I feel as if the art of a cover does not relate to the story but Veneer is mentioned many times and it makes sense. The picture...well, made me think of slavery. I found the lives of the main characters very real. No one lives a PERFECT life. :( This is very worth the read if you can move through to the end.… (mehr)
