I Have Cerebral Palsy is a good book. Not only does it explain Cerebral Palsy more in depth and gives us a better understanding of it, but it also tells the story of a little girl named Sydney who has Cerebral Palsy. Sydney begins talking about when she was born and how she was just like all of the other little kids and then begins describing how Cerebral Palsy affects her body and how she lives life. Just from reading this book, I can tell how sweet Sydney is!
The main character Sydney was prtrayed as a very informed child who wanted people to know about how she was different and the same as other children.
This is a wonderful book to explain to children about someone who has Cerebral Palsy. Sydney is a young girl who is just like other children, except she has cerebral palsy. She uses special adaptive devices, might take longer to do things or do them in different ways, but she has the same feelings, wishes and desires. Using photographs, she tells her story of development and how cerebral palsy affects her. She also shares that when people laugh at her it hurts her feelings. This is a great book to be used in schools and classrooms, especially when there is a child who has cerebral palsy. I recommend this book be in all school libraries.
