Steven Hilliard Stern

An embittered Vietnam veteran (Tommy Lee Jones) feels that he has been denied "respect" and that his fellow vets have been abandoned by the Government. After the death of a vet friend he decides to take over Central Park in New York for 72 hours as some sort of terroristic social protest. Although the plot is more than a touch preposterous it is delivered with plenty of charismatic acting gusto by Jones and with plenty of directorial drive by Steven Hilliard Stern. There's social commentary and politics mixed into the storyline, but this never distracts from the action and the breakneck narrative. Tangerine Dream provide a nice mid-80s electronic score that work very nicely with the onscreen lunacy.… (mehr)

The real-life story of Olympic diver Greg Louganis is chronicled in this made-for-television drama. Mario Lopez stars as Louganis, an adopted child who went through a difficult adolescence, only to emerge as a world-class diver in the 1988 Olympics. After a notorious diving injury during those games, Louganis went on to win two gold medals. After the games ended though, Louganis was forced to face an even more challenging period and go public with his homosexuality and deal with his HIV-positive status.
