Tillit S. Teddlie (1885–1987)

In 1903, he was immersed into Christ, and also taught his first shape note singing school, which lasted for two weeks. He composed his first song in 1906.

Teddlie was educated in Southern Development Normal in Waco, Texas, a school for advanced instruction in theory and harmony. He also attended what is now North Texas State University.

During his lifetime, Teddlie taught singing schools for 61 years, composed 130 songs, published 14 hymnals, and served as a full-time evangelist, including preaching for the Johnson Street Church of Christ (1945–1951) and Central Church of Christ in Greenville, Texas, and Churches of Christ in Ennis, Sulphur Springs, Lone Oak and Quinlan.

He led singing for more than 100 gospel preachers in meetings across the land. For one period of time (two years) he sang only with Foy E. Wallace, Jr., while they conducted meetings across the country.
