This book was created for the purpose of helping members of the SCA who wanted to create authentic-style names for the medieval/renaissance period. It includes very detailed material about family names, personal names, honorific names and titles, as well as Chinese style names and later period Christian names. It has a thematic dictionary of names according to their meanings, and lists of historical names. Much of the material is presented in chart form. Since it does not have formal source citations, it is not a strictly scholarly work, but it does represent the fruit of immense research.
