Sarah Treem

Two scientists meet on the eve of an important conference. The work of these two scientists, a generation apart in age, overlaps, and appears contradictory. When presented at the conference, the younger woman's hypothesis is greeted with derision and sexism. The two women battle each other as they struggle to cope with a scientific community that finds it hard to accept their ideas; they find it hard to accept each other. Well written for the most part, but a bit too enamored of its own voice. The women are believable as scientists competing in a traditional man's world. The premise is also believable, though there are points where they say things that scientists don't say (as in "it's just a theory").… (mehr)
