This book is a book that mainly focuses on exploring Latin culture trough the arts, Dance, Music, and Art. It includes many activities for children of all ages. It also teaches children about the different countries as it goes along. The activities all have accompanying sections of facts about the region or country the activity is related to.

Review:

I liked this book a lot, not only because it gave lot of great easy suggestion about how to explore Latin Culture but also because of the way it was written, It was very kid friendly. The steps were easy to follow and the language used was simple but effective. The author talks to the kids directly and engages them in the book.… (mehr)

This author provides a great deal of useful information for teenagers, or anyone who is unaware of how food contributes to emotions and health in general. It is an easy read, but at times it seems as if the author just jumbled up some facts and put them together in paragraphs. She frequently jumped from one topic to the next topic, and back again to the original topic in the same paragraph.
I could introduce this book, and other books about nutrition, in a secondary science/biology class when doing a lesson on human health. The author presents insets that contain mock thoughts, logic, and/or conversation between teenagers about nutrition. Many times the logic, or otherwise, is faulty, although could be common misconceptions among young adults that do not understand exactly how food works in the body.
The author also has chapters devoted to eating disorders with adequate explanation as to why these issues occur. She also provides many web-sites that readers may visit to find out more information on these important topics.
A table of contents was provided with the name and page number of each strait forward chapter title. The author also provides an index, a list of additional reading material, and some addresses of health related associations, including the American Dietetic Association. A nice glossary of pertinent words is provided in bold with pronunciation help, which add to the quality of the book. It is unclear however, if the suggested further readings were sources for this book or not.

This information-packed book examines the civil rights movement through its music. From spirituals to gospel to jazz to folk protest music, Freedom Song provides lyrics and information about songs that inspired, motivated, and educated people. An accompanying CD from the Chicago Children's Choir contains recordings of 18 of the songs discussed in the book. An index, appendix, and extensive list of resources make this a great source for research and classroom use.
