Clementine von Radics

I love Clementine von Radics poetry that I've read online, and my very favorite poem is part of this collection: For Teenage Girls with Wild Ambition and Trembling Hearts. I liked a number of the other poems, but books of poetry are really hit and miss for me. The theme of loss and relationship problems runs throughout this collection, and those were less to my taste. Still, it was a relatively quick read, and there were several poems in here that I really loved.… (mehr)

When I began reading this collection, I was immediately drawn in. The words were stunning and seemed like thoughts i'd had were being displayed on the pages.
As I continued reading, however, I began to become a bit detached. I felt I was no longer enjoying the poems in their entirety, but rather in segments. Some were absolute magick and others read like first drafts. For this reason, the collection received 3 stars.

Here were some of my favorite lines:

" I think I like my brain best
in a bar fight with my heart" - p.2

" What no one ever talks about
is how dangerous hope can be.
Call it forgiveness with teeth. " - p.7

" I want her to make music of me." - p.14

" It is a strange thing
to nourish what could kill you
in the hopes it does not kill you." -p. 16

" My lips want you like my lungs want air;
it's just what they were born to do. " -p. 36
