Little Monster is a story about a little girl named Mandy that is known to be "Good as Gold." That changes when during a dinner party that her parents had Mandy over heard her mother telling their guest, how wonderful and delightful Mandy is, but labels Mandy's younger brother Jimmy as the "Little Monster." Mandy soon decides the next day that she will no longer be "Good as Gold," but have a much better time becoming a "Little Monster." As the day goes on for Mandy her parents become distraught at the way Mandy has acted, but as soon as Mandy's mother calls her a Little Monster, Mandy smiles and realizes no matter what her action are, her parents will always love her.

I personally enjoyed this book as a child when my mother read this book to me at the age of 6. I experienced always being known as the well behaved child, because I was the youngest out of seven children, but I felt as though my siblings received more attention because of their misbehavior at time and their mischievousness. After realizing that either way my parents cared for me just as much as my other siblings, I went back to my normal ways.

In the class room this would be a great way to have each student express their stories when they have misbehaved. Also discuss the way students should act when feeling alone or more needy.
